This Popular Fan Kept Dogs Cool At The Westminster Dog Show

The dogs at this year’s Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show are big fans of all their fans—both the admiring humans and the cooling devices. As dogs of all shapes and sizes prepared for their shot at Best In Show, many kept cool in front of the same portable fan: the Ryobi Hybrid One+ Cordless.

The Spruce Pets team was in attendance at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City—the same location where the U.S. Open takes place—to speak with handlers, trainers, and breeders about the products their competition-level dogs rely on to stay happy and healthy.

While this year’s competition had mild weather—sunny, with highs hovering in the low 70s–it was still uncomfortably warm for dog breeds built for the snow, like Saint Bernards and Siberian Huskies. Keeping them cool in the stadium complex required an on-demand breeze.

“On a hot day, a powerful 18-volt battery is a requirement for my dogs,” shared Rick Su, a breeder, handler, and dog dad of Keeshonds based out of Long Branch, New Jersey.
